Al Qaida ou Al Qaeda (árabe: القاعدة - al-Qā‘idah, "A Fundación" ou "A Base") é o nome dado a unha alianza internacional de organizacións islamistas radicais. Fundouna Osama bin Laden en 1988 co apoio dos Estados Unidos para reclutar saudís que se uniran aos mujahidín que loitaban contra a ocupación soviética en Afganistán, pero trala derrota soviética transformouse nunha forma de ideoloxía islámica radical que busca por medio de tácticas terroristas e militares suplantar os reximes de Oriente medio co obxectivo de xuntar a todos os musulmáns baixo un único goberno rexido estritamente polas leis islámicas.
A partir de 1996 instalouse en Afganistán, protexida polo rexime talibán. As primeiras accións foron o atentado con coche-bomba contra o World Trade Center de Nova York (1993), contra o campamento militar de Dhahran en Arabia Saudí (1996) e contra as embaixadas dos Estados Unidos en Nairobi e Dar es Salaam (1998).
Al Qaida conseguíu notoriedade pública tralos ataques do 11 de setembro de 2001 ao World Trade Center en Nova York e ao Pentágono en Washington. Atribuiuse tamén no 2002 os atentados de Bali, na praia de Khuta, nos que morreron duascentas persoas.
Tamén se lle atribúen os atentados do 11-M en Madrid o 11 de marzo de 2004 e os Londres o 7 de xullo de 2005. Ademais de numerosos atentados en Iraq e Afganistán.
